In yet another extensive Visit Nepal 2020 campaign, the Nepal Government has asked the people of Nepalis to promote the Visit Nepal 2020 Logo across their social media profiles. Issuing a press statement on August 11, 2019, Nepal Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Ministry urged Nepalis across the world to expand and promote VNY 2020.
The Ministry has encouraged Nepali individuals, organizations (public and private) and associations to share and post the Visit Nepal 2020 logo across their social media accounts including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and their respective websites. The government rolled out the VNY 2020 campaign with a target of drawing 2 million tourists to Nepal. The Nepal Government has approved a budget of NPR 100 million for the promotions of VNY 2020 this fiscal year.
Nepal recorded a total of 1.1 million tourists in the year 2018. Targeting VNY, government has been saying that the Tribhuvan International Airport will be transformed into a boutique airport as it is the first place where tourists analyze the country. Elements which reflect the culture of the country should be placed in most areas of airport.
Another significant development which has begun for city beautification is tree plantation in the Kathmandu Valley targeting to plant 200,000 trees.
Tourism entrepreneurs say that though infrastructure is a concern for everyone, Nepal must also focus on showcasing its hidden destinations.
